3D printers have emerged as a critical component in the support of student creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration. Wired magazine editor and author, Chris Anderson, has declared the 3D printer as the "home computer of the 21st century. The next generation of industrial designers are going to be the kids that get 3D printers for Christmas this year.” Learn how students at F.E. Madill in grades 7 through 12 have joined this new industrial revolution. See how we share this technology with other schools outside of ours.
Discover how students and teachers work together to integrate this cutting-edge technology in their classroom using the Makerbot Replicator 2X 3D printer. Lessons shared include innovative designs, preferred software, costs, materials and approaches taken as teachers and student of various grade levels explore deeper into this new technology. Various cross-curricular approaches are addressed including math, history, science and design technology.
