Minecraft isn't just cubes and Zombies, it is a digital tool that can be used to enhance student engagement with meaningful connections to the curriculum. Game Based Learning, specifically in the virtual sandbox known as Minecraft, can help build critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students of all ages.

The world of Minecraft provides a rich environment for problem and project based learning in all areas of the Ontario curriculum and multi-player options open up additional opportunities to communicate and collaborate with peers.

In this Minds on Media session, you will get the opportunity to build and play and discuss the logistics of using Minecraft (and MinecraftEdu) as a tool in your teaching practice.

All levels of experience welcome, no equipment necessary.

If you do have equipment (a computer with downloading rights (not a Chromebook) you can play on your own computer as I can help you download Minecraft and you can borrow an account while you are visiting (or buy/use your own).

If you have a tablet you can purchase from Minecraft from your app store, for around $7 - $9, or borrow one of my tablets for the session.
